Ah summer! The nights are warmer, the days are longer and the BBQ is on a permanent rotation. While summer is the season for a whole lot of fun in the sun, at Castle Estate we need to prepare the farm for those warmer days when the sun is relentlessly hot. While the paddocks can become dry and arid, we need to do everything we can to keep our animals well fed and kept cool! Managing animals in high temperatures requires good forward planning. Keeping an eye on the weather forecasts, and developing a plan for days of high to extreme temperature is essential in ensuring that your animals will have sufficient shade and water on those very hot days.
Extreme heat causes significant stress for all animals which is something we try to minimise as much as possible because we know that if they live better, they taste better
