For thousands of years, meat has been seen as a rarity and a sign of wealth. As Australian’s we love our meat but we also think it’s important to observe how other nations and cultures view and consume meat products.
For example, did you know that India consumes the least amount of meat per capita? Hindus who do eat meat, often distinguish all other meat from beef. The respect for cow is part of Hindu belief, and most Hindus avoid meat sourced from cow as cows are treated as a motherly giving animal, considered as another member of the family. Instead they mainly consume chicken, fish and lamb, but still stay away from animal-derived fats such as lard and dripping.
